Akers, JD,\n \nSteve Akers is a Managing Director with Bessemer Trust Company, N.A., in Dallas, Texas, where he is Senior Fiduciary Counsel and chairs the Estate Planning Committee.   \n \nMr. Akers is a member of the Advisory Committee to the University of Miami Philip E. Heckerling Institute on Estate Planning and is a frequent speaker at that Institute, as well as other estate planning seminars across the country.\n \nHe is a past Chair of the American Bar Association’s Section of Real Property, Trust & Estate Law.\n \nHe serves as Immediate Past President of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel.  He has previously served in a variety of roles with ACTEC including as a Regent, Chair of the Business Planning Committee, and Editor of the ACTEC Law Journal.\n \nMr. Akers is a past Chair of the State Bar of Texas Real Estate, Probate and Trust Law Section and of the Dallas Bar Probate, Trusts and Estates Section. \n \nMr. Akers has received the Distinguished Accredited Estate Planner Award from the National Association of Estate Planning Councils, the Distinguished Probate Lawyer Lifetime Achievement Award from the State Bar of Texas Real Estate, Probate and Trust Law Section, and the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Dallas Bar Association Probate, Trusts & Estates Section.\n \nMr. Akers received his B.S. degree in Chemical Engineering from Oklahoma State University (1974) and his J.D. degree from the University of Texas School of Law (1977).\n \n \n \n \n \nDonna True, LCSW\n \nDonna True, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, is the Program Development and Outreach Coordinator for the Council on Aging of Martin County at the Kane Center. \n \nPrior to accepting her position at the Kane Center, True worked for the Southeast Florida Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association for 16 years.\n \nTrue obtained her AAS degree from Farmingdale, Long Island, her Bachelors in Social Work from Florida Atlantic University, and her Masters in Social Work from Barry University.\n \nShe has devoted her professional career to working with those who are affected by Alzheimer's or other types of memory loss disorders. \n \n She has been a support group facilitator since 1994.  Ms. True is on the board of Southeast Florida Honor Flight.\n \nMs. True is the proud recipient of the 2017 NASW Treasure Coast “Social Worker of the Year” award, the 2018 Senior Networking Service Award, and the 2012 Fearless Caregiver “Community Fearless Caregiver” award. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n
