DESCRIPTION:\nGuest Speaker - Moira McLachlan, National Director of Core Allocation Strategies, AllianceBernstein\n \nCharitable Sponsor - Equine Rescue and Adoption Foundation \n \nTopic - Market Update\n \nUnderstanding the “Why” Behind Investment Strategy \n \n \n \nUnderstanding the “Why” Behind Investment Strategy\n \n \nI consider it the highest compliment when clients say, “You have a knack for breaking down complex financial concepts and the ‘why’ behind investment strategy—in a way that is accessible, digestible and reassuring.”\n \n \n \nWhat inspired you to join Bernstein?\n \nPrior to joining Bernstein, I spent 18 years in international equity research and portfolio management, always focused on institutional clients. While I thrived on the excitement that far-flung markets presented, I ultimately craved the ability to work more directly with clients. When Bernstein approached me, I was intrigued. I had always considered the firm’s fundamental research the industry gold standard. Yet, I knew very little about its Private Client business. As I learned more, it became clear that the Senior Investment Strategist role would be a perfect fit; fully leveraging my capital markets expertise and allowing me to directly impact client outcomes. Today, I work with a wide range of clients and serve on our national Investment Strategy Team. I relish the combination of intellectual challenge and personal impact that comes from contributing to Bernstein’s thought leadership and ever-evolving investment platform.\n \n \n \nWhat passions do you pursue outside of work?\n \nI was born in the UK and moved to the US as a child. Having also lived in Spain, Brazil and Costa Rica before settling in Miami, Florida, I consider myself a global citizen. My broad worldview and curiosity about different cultures are especially relevant in the work I do with global and multi-jurisdictional families. I am also a voracious reader and an avid traveler. When I’m not on a plane with my nose stuck in a book, I enjoy spending time with my husband, son and our energetic Australian shepherd, Arrow.\n
